This new release marks an important step forward in our journey to automate legal and compliance decisions, while staying true to a principle we are not willing to compromise on. Human-led AI. AI that is designed, supervised, and ultimately accountable to people at every critical step.
Over the past two years, we rebuilt Surveill three times from the ground up. Not because we were chasing features or novelty, but because we were relentlessly focused on getting the foundation right. Each rebuild pushed us closer to a system that is flexible enough to adapt to real world environments, while remaining stubbornly consistent in how it delivers compliance and legal outcomes.
As we worked toward this version, one reality continued to guide our thinking.
No two firms are the same. Risk appetites differ. Interpretations of regulatory and legal obligations vary. Business models, internal processes, and technology stacks are never identical. Anyone who has moved from one firm to another understands the learning curve that comes with those differences. Designing Surveill to adapt to the internal structure of each firm is not optional for us. It is central to our philosophy.
That philosophy is reflected in the core components that make up the next version of Surveill.
At the foundation is Nexus. Nexus is where documents, data, and context come together to form a single source of truth, ensuring every decision is grounded in the actual facts of the material being reviewed.
Doctrine sits on top of that foundation. It is our proprietary rule and policy mapping layer, built to enforce rule traceability, require explainability in every response, and ensure that the same issue consistently produces the same outcome.
Interpreter is where document intelligence truly lives. This is how Surveill reads and understands complex documents with footnotes, tables, and charts the way a human would. We built this deliberately, because even the most advanced AI will hallucinate if it does not properly understand the document in front of it.
Supervision ensures that humans remain firmly in control. Compliance and legal professionals design the system and actively oversee AI behavior at each critical step. AI accelerates analysis and improves consistency, but judgment stays with people.
Finally, and true to our name, Surveillance is the watchful layer that continuously monitors activity and escalates potential issues as they arise, helping ensure alignment between what was reviewed and what is ultimately published or distributed.
Together, these components define the next version of Surveill and how we think about modern compliance. To reflect this evolution, we have also updated our website to better capture what Surveill is today and where it is headed.
We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, and even more excited about what comes next. As you’ll see throughout the platform and the site, there is still so much left to build.
Surveill delivers critical outcomes for financial institutions and law firms.
